  The fields of research undertaken by the “Networks and Optical Telecommunications (RTO)” team concern the study and characterization of novel optical devices and analysis of their contribution when used in the long haul optical fiber transmission networks (devices for optical packet switching, optical filter, optical amplification, new optical modulation formats, etc.), and in the metropolitan and access networks (CDMA optical, radio-over-fiber, weighted WDM, etc.). The research axes developed are:

- Devices and Components dedicated to Optical Telecommunications.

- Optical functions and all-optical signal processing (Lasers sources, optical filtering, optical amplification, optical equalization, dispersion compensation, etc.).

- Communication techniques in access networks, metropolitan networks and core networks.

- Advanced Modulation Formats.

- WDM with flexible grid.

- Phase sensitive optical amplification and Coherent Detection Techniques. 

- Multi-Core Fiber and multi-mode fibers intended for multiplexing By spatial division.
